About Lisa Cole & the music

Bio

Lisa's musical journey began with a simple strum on a guitar in grade school, a moment that marked the beginning of a lifelong passion. Her formative years on Austin's Sixth Street and barrooms amidst the city's vibrant music scene, allowed her to hone a distinctive style that blends the traditional with the innovative. The dive bars and Texas dance halls of her early career were the crucibles in which her talent was forged, leading to performances in grand dance halls and premier venues, leading to a highlight in her career at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo performing between Clay Walker

& Willie Nelson.

Her ascent in the music world saw her opening for legends like Conway Twitty, Ricky Van Shelton, Asleep at the Wheel, and her sojourn in Southern California with the G.R.I.T.S. band brought her and G.R.I.T.S. acclaim as the best country act. in southern California. The storied El Rancho of the Las Vegas strip, The infamous Palamino Club in N. Hollywood, The Crazy Horse in CA.

In Lisa's music, one can discern the eclectic influences of Texas' musical heritage. The twang of bluegrass strings and the soul-stirring depths of blues are interwoven into her songs, creating a sound that is unmistakably Texan yet universally appealing. Her music is a breeze across the wheatfields, a whisper of the state's vastness, and a heartbeat of its solitude. Her songs are candid and sincere, brimming with positivity, yet they do not shy away from the complexities of life, as reflected in her poignant ballads.

Lisa's voice is described by some as angelic and by others as powerful.  The influences of her musical inspirations from the heartfelt narratives of Emmylou Harris to the pioneering spirit of Linda Ronstadt, from the gritty soul of Bonnie Raitt to the fresh energy of Kelsea Ballerini or Miranda Lambert, each artist has left an indelible mark on her sound. Lisa Cole continues to enchant with her unique voice, weaving a musical legacy that is as enduring as the Texas landscape that inspired it. Her music stands as a beacon of authenticity, a celebration of roots, and a journey through the sounds of the heart of Texas.

This song is absolutely about the simple things in life are the best!! The perfect tubing song lazily floating down the Guadelupe River.

    I Like Trains

I Like Trains is a fun and fast paced song all about the different personalities of men.  Men are easy to love, fun, whimsical, daring, strong, straight forward, adventurous, and these are just a few comparisons drawn in this lighthearted, cheerful, spirited song.

    But I do like trains!

    Cat On The Prowl

"Cat On The Prowl" serves as an anthem for those who dread the daily 9-5 grind. It's a song for the working individual who prefers to forge their own path and do things their way.

    Texas Homesick Blues

If you were born in Texas, it becomes a part of you; its roots run deep. No matter where you go, once you cross its borders, it has a way of drawing you back home.

    Not What Momma Dreamed Of

This song doesn't need much explanation.  We all want the best for our children and well, only God knows what is best!  This song is a story about true love that just can't leave your heart and the choices we make.  A story about a young girl who falls for a rodeo cowboy.    This is one of 11 songs on "Life's Simple Pleasures" album.

    On Foot Down

One Foot Down is about always putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.  Life is hard and sometimes what is good for you is not good for others around you. Trying to keep a healthy, positive outlook is not always easy for some.  Life has challenges and we do the best we can to overcome the hardships.

    Lyin' Hearts

Good country 2-step song about a misread relationship.

    Momma's Nightmare

Momma's Nightmare tells a story about a daughter meeting a self-centered guy she meets up with at a dancehall.  He takes a selfie of himself and saves it on her phone as her screen saver.

    Tears In My Eyes

Song about unwavering love that drifted apart.  Love can capture the essence of kindness yet can be so cruel and hurtful when it leaves.

    New Joy

A conversation between friends, one is struggling with a difficult relationship, while the other shares their positive experiences with faith in God and how it has transformed their life.  Lets her know that God knows her struggles, but it was never a part of God's plan for her.

    Movin' On

I've always wanted to capture this song because it epitomizes the sheer joy a band experiences while showcasing their talent. It's all about grooving to the rhythm of the music and embracing life on tour.
